Looking for last minute plans for this weekend? Pack up the car and take a drive up to Shenandoah National Park! This weekend is a free weekend for many, many National Parks this weekend. High pressure moving across New England and off the coast is going to keep temperatures down this weekend, and so despite the humid airmass that will be in place, we’ll get a break from the heat for at least a day or two.

Saturday looks to be a repeat of two Saturdays ago, where easterly winds brought cool, moist Atlantic air over the region and wedged it up against the eastern side of the Appalachians. This means another mostly cloudy to overcast day, with temperatures only reaching the mid to upper 80s. That’s right, I said 80s! The only drawback is the threat of rain; much like Friday, spotty showers aren’t out of the question, nor are some isolated thunderstorms if there are some breaks in the clouds. Overnight temperatures will fall into the low 70s.

Squirrelcast (vs. Portland, 6:35pm): There’s the chance for a stray shower or thunderstorm into the evening hours, so I can’t rule out a rain delay at some point in the game. Game time temperatures will be in the low 80s, dropping to the mid 70s by game’s end. Otherwise, expect breezy conditions under mostly cloudy skies.

Sunday is looking like a carbon copy of Saturday. Easterly flow will again bring cool, moist air over the region, giving us a thick cloud layer and highs in the mid to upper 80s. The rain chances continue, and again we could see some isolated storms if the sun is able to break through for a bit. Otherwise, we’ll see mostly cloudy skies into the evening, with overnight lows in the low 70s again.

Squirrelcast (vs. Portland, 5:05pm): Again, this will mostly be a carbon copy of Saturday. First pitch temperature will be in the mid 80s under mostly cloudy skies, with the chance of an isolated shower or thunderstorm through the game. By the ninth inning, temperatures will be in the upper 70s.
