Tips for the 30th Annual Carytown Watermelon Festival this Sunday

Secrets to help navigate the crowds and find a place to park at this weekend’s Carytown Watermelon Festival.

Tips for the 30th Annual Carytown Watermelon Festival this Sunday from the Carytown Merchants Association:

Hello Neighbor!

As we get ready for the Carytown Watermelon Festival this Sunday, we felt like we should share some secrets we use to navigate the crowds and find a place to park…

Tip #1 – The obvious choice would be to carpool. If that’s not an option, GRTC runs regular bus routes to and from Carytown. You can check the schedule by going to GRTC website.

Tip #2 – Parking is always a challenge during the Carytown Festivals…most people don’t even realize there are parking decks/lots in Carytown. There are two decks that are accessible via Crenshaw Ave and Colonial Ave. The streets aren’t closed up to the deck entrances, so you can access these parking decks. There is also parking behind many of the shops. Access these from Ellwood Ave.

Tip #3 – Don’t park where there are NO PARKING signs. Even though it’s Sunday and there is a festival, you can (and most likely will) get a ticket. Park on sidestreets, lots, decks and try to carpool or use public transportation when possible

More tips for a great festival experience coming soon…

From all of us in Carytown, we hope you will join us this Sunday August 11 and thank you for your continued support. Remember, when you eat, shop & play in Carytown, you support a neighbor, a friend and a small business owner.
