Style Weekly dines at Hutch Bar & Eatery
Reviewer Elliott Shaffner finds a few hits and misses during visits to the West End eatery.
Hutch Bar & Eatery is contemporary, casual and comfortable. The walls are adorned with striking photographs of significant Richmond landmarks, and the lighting is warm. Think West Elm meets Design Within Reach.
You could be almost anywhere. But you’re in Richmond’s far West End shopping center Gayton Crossing — and you’re at Hutch, the latest restaurant baby of Toast and Shoryuken Ramen owners Jessica and Josh Bufford.
The menu represents a cross-section of the greatest national and international hit dishes, in addition to, as they say, approachable Southern favorites. You’ll find appetizers of crispy Brussels sprouts ($6) on the menu right above house-made corn-dog bites ($9) and empanadas ($9). Entrees include crab mac ’n’ cheese ($16), prime rib poutine ($14) and jambalaya ($20).
