PHOTOS: The Boathouse opens at Short Pump Town Center

Local restauranteur Kevin Healy’s fourth restaurant offers a slightly different menu offerings and a lot more sushi.

Local restauranteur Kevin Healy opened his fourth restaurant this past weekend, this one marking his first foray into the Far West End. The third location of The Boathouse dry docked at Short Pump Town Center, underneath the Hyatt House Hotel.

The 5,800-square-foot restaurant is notably different from other Boathouse locations, with whitewashed wood, reclaimed timber flooring, and rustic, upscale décor.

“People have asked us to come to the West End for years,” Healy said of his decision to come to Short Pump. “When the opportunity arose, we knew had to jump on it.”

The Short Pump location’s menu varies slighting from those of the Rocketts Landing and Sunday Park locations, but still embodies the same classic coastal cuisine. Unique to the new restaurant is a full sushi menu by Sushi Chef James Kim, who hails from the Caneel Bay Resort on the island of St. John in the U.S. Virgin Islands.

The restaurant features a large open sunroom with garage doors that open to the mall’s Restaurant Row, wrap-around bar and separate sushi bar, an open kitchen format, and a private room–known as The Owner’s Room–equipped with a flat panel television for meetings and other functions.

The Boathouse at Short Pump Town Center is open nightly at 5:00 PM and will begin lunch service on Friday, June 19th.
