New restaurants in November

Another month, another set of restaurants for you to add to your lists.

Lalo’s Cocina Bar & Grill

November 2nd

Where once there stood pasta now stands tacos. Lalo’s Cocina Bar & Grill opened this past month in the old Pan e Vino spot (2617 W. Broad Street). The menu appears to be your standard Tex-Mex with most lunch entrees in the $7 – $9 range and the steak and seafood dinner options in the $14 – $16 range.

Gelati Celesti — Short Pump

November 13th

Gelati Celesti, a Richmond ice cream staple for 30 years, opened its third shop in The Corner at Short Pump, near Kroger. The first location opened in Gold’s Gym Plaza at W. Broad Street and West End Drive in 1984. Owner Steve Rosser, who purchased the company in 2010, later added a location in Bon Air as well as an ice cream truck.

McCormack’s Big Whisky Grill

November 19th

Mac McCormack has expanded his empire of Whisky Grills with the new and much larger McCormack’s Big Whisky Grill at Regency Square Mall. You can’t go wrong with co-executive chefs Todd Brady (Dixie Chicken) and Philip Denny (Aziza’s on Main)!

November 25th

Southbound, the new Southside restaurant from Joe Sparatta of Heritage and Lee Gregory of The Roosevelt, officially opened for business. The two partners aim to bring “casual and approachable” fare to the Stony Point area.
