Mini Greek Festival brings a taste of popular spring event to the fall

It’s just about everything you love about the Greek Festival in the spring, only mini-er.

Richmonders sure love their festivals. So much so in fact that in recent years, a mini version of one of the most popular–the Greek Festival–has come to fruition.

The Mini Greek Festival kicks off today at Sts. Constantine & Helen Greek Orthodox Cathedral and runs through Saturday, bringing Richmonders a taste of its larger sister event which takes place each spring.

Festival volunteers will be serving up Greek specialties like moussaka, pastichio, souvlaki, and more at lunch and dinnertime, along with an assortment of pastries–both a la carte and by the pan for take-home enjoyment.

In addition, the church is offering sanctuary tours, an international bazaar, and traditional song and dance from the congregation’s Hellenic Dance Troop.

Proceeds will benefit local charities supporting the underprivileged.

The festival runs Thursday Saturday from 11:00 AM – 8:00 PM. The cathedral is located at 30 Malvern Avenue in the Near West End. To place an order by phone, call 804.358.5996; fax this order form (PDF) to 804.342.1947.

Visit the church’s website for more information.
