Mezzanine to close its doors at the end of the month

The Carytown fine dining establishment has enjoyed a seven-year run under the ownership of Chef Todd Johnson.

From Richmond Magazine:

Sad news for Richmond restaurants: Carytown’s Mezzanine is closing after seven years of upscale fine dining. Its last day will be Saturday, Sept. 26.

“Carytown is saturated with restaurants and we weren’t doing as well as we were in the first few years,” says owner and chef Todd Johnson. “I let my staff know beforehand, if they want to stay on with the next restaurant, that spot will be lucky. It’s sad but in the last six months, I had to make some decisions. So I think I am going to do some catering and try to have a family.”

More on what could soon take the restaurant’s place at the link.
