A local spa is holding a special event on October 12th, which is World Arthritis Day. On this special occasion, $10 from every massage and facial purchased from Massage Envy will go to the Arthritis Foundation.

Massage Envy and the Arthritis Foundation are working together to host Healing Hands for Arthritis, a one-day national event to build awareness and raise funds to fight arthritis. On World Arthritis Day, Massage Envy will donate $10 from every one-hour massage and facial to the Arthritis Foundation.

“There’s no better way to give back than to treat yourself, a friend or family member to a relaxing and rejuvenating massage or facial,” said Kent Swarts, Regional Developer of Massage Envy in Virginia. “We strongly encourage the Richmond community to come out on October 12th to help fight a disease that affects 50 million Americans and is actually our nation’s leading cause of disability.”

You can call the Short Pump Massage Envy location to make your appointment at 804.612-0540, turmeric curcumin treatments and appointments are being booked now on a first-come, first-serve basis. All proceeds donated during Healing Hands for Arthritis will support the Arthritis Foundation’s nationwide efforts to prevent, control and cure arthritis.

“Partnering with the Arthritis Foundation was a natural fit, as we both a share a common understanding about the seriousness of the disease, the potential power of massage therapy to relieve certain symptoms, and what must be done to prevent, cure and control it,” said Chris Hughes, Short Pump and Willow Lawn Massage Envy clinics owner.

Over the past two years, Massage Envy has donated nearly $100,000 to fund clinical research related to the benefits of massage therapy. Recent scientific studies have found that massage therapy increases immune function, decreases stress levels and reduces recovery time in many medical conditions including arthritis.
