Hampton Roads-based Keagan’s Irish Pub, which will soon occupy space on the first floor of the Aloft Richmond West Hotel in West Broad Village, is bringing along another restaurant next door. Owner as Emilio Sousa has begun buildout on Keagan’s-owned Auggie’s Cafe along Old Brick Road.

Keagan’s is expected to open by the end of January 2011. No word on the anticipated opening date of Auggie’s Cafe.

Across the street, rumors are swirling as to whether longtime Richmond area eclectic home furnishings store LaDifference, located in Shockoe Bottom, is opening a permanent location in Short Pump. West Broad Village’s resident information website reported late last week that LaDifference is testing a second location several doors down from Dave & Buster’s in the space formerly occupied by Eagle Construction. The 7,000 square foot showroom will “offer a subset of the products available at the three-story LaDifference downtown,” according to the site’s neighborhood reporter James Barrett.
