June has arrived, and in Richmond that means one thing: food festival time!

 As temperatures warm up, Richmonders love to head out, meet up with their fellow River City dwellers, and sample some delicious cuisine. Here are several opportunities for you to do just that next month. Get your appetites ready!

34th Annual Greek Festival

Enjoy four days of amazing Greek food, music, dancing, and more. But be sure to get there early if you want any baklava — that stuff runs out in no time. (Check out our video coverage of last year’s festival.)

June 3 through June 6 (hours vary by day), Saints Constantine and Helen Greek Orthodox Cathedral (30 Malvern Avenue), free admission

Red, White, and Brew

Head on down to 17th Street Farmers Market to sample local wines, fancy beers, and some delicious snacks.

Every Friday starting June 4 (through October 8), 5pm to 9pm, 17th & E. Main Streets, free admission

Ashland Strawberry Faire

That 15-minute trip up to Ashland is totally worth it for this one. Sample strawberry shortcake, drinks, and bread, or just purchase flats of that heavenly fruit to take home. There will also be a Little Miss and Little Mister Strawberry contest!

June 5, 9am to 5pm, up and down Henry Street in Ashland, free admission

Beer, Bourbon, & BBQ Festival

Delicious fare AND alliteration? Sign us up! In addition to tastings, you’ll also get to enjoy games of cornhole, a cigar tent, and fun contests.

June 5, 12pm to 6pm, Richmond Raceway Complex (600 E. Laburnum Avenue), $30 to $40 (see website for details)

Stone Soul Music and Food Festival

Enjoy music from the likes of Bobby Brown, Faith Evans, Donnell Jones, and more. You’ll also get to sample food from some of Richmond’s best soul food restaurants. A portion of the proceeds benefit the Make-A-Wish Foundation of Greater Virginia.

June 5, 12pm to 8pm, Brown’s Island (S. 7th Street), $35

Broad Appétit

Spend the day on Broad Street experiencing the wonderful food, art, and music that makes Richmond great, all to benefit the Central Virginia Food Bank and Meals on Wheels.

June 6, 11am to 5pm, Broad Street between Monroe and Adams, free admission (food samples are $3 per plate)

World Beer Festival

Folks have been talking about this one since March, so clearly Richmond is stoked. Beer, food, Brown’s Island — what’s not to like? Profits benefit FETCH-A-Cure, an organization devoted to improving the quality of life for all pets.

June 12, 12pm to 4pm and 6pm to 10pm, Brown’s Island (S. 7th Street), $40 per session in advance ($50 at the door), $75 for VIP tickets

St. Joseph’s Italian Festival

Two days of pizza, cannoli, pasta, and more. It might be best to schedule a day to nap after this one.

June 12 and 13, 11am to 8pm, St. Joseph’s Catholic Church (828 Buford Road), free admission

Central Virginia Wine Festival

Yes, we know there’s no mention of “food” in the name of this event, but, in addition to samples from 14 local wineries, they’re promising snacks from Gegory’s Grill, Nacho Mama’s, and Eurasia Cafe and Bar.

June 19, 12pm to 6pm, Snagajob Pavilion (4901 Lake Brook Drive), $20 in advance, $25 at the gate ($5 for those not planning to imbibe)

2nd Annual Burning Up the Bottom

Celebrate the brave men and women who provide fire protection and emergency medical care in Richmond. Food from Shockoe Bottom restaurants will be available for purchase, and the whole family will love the kid-friendly activities they’ve got planned.

The Richmond Vegetarian Festival

Enjoy vegetarian/vegan-friendly cuisine from the likes of Cous Cous, Whole Foods Market, Phoenix Garden, Sticky To Go Go, and more!
