Being Irish: it’s a thing! You know what else is a thing? Drinking and celebrating Irish heritage. Speaking of those very things, do you know the origin of Irish Coffee? It’s a cool story. During World War II, US Army personnel would fly into Shannon, Ireland in the middle of winter with no heat on their planes. To help the men warm up quickly, one ingenious bartender mixed a little Jameson whiskey with coffee. The soldiers loved it. So, when they traveled across Europe and then back home, they touted how great the drink, “Irish coffee,” was. The name stuck, and even in Ireland today restaurants and bar advertise “Irish coffee” to their patrons.
