Ice cream shop has new hours, Blue Goat extends its happy hour, and the Roosevelt unveils new menu

Lots of folks came out to the food truck court at the Virginia Historical Society this week, but there’s way more happening around town when it comes to food: The Roosevelt has a new seasonal menu, some “sweet” ice cream is getting ready for summer, and a new restaurant extends its happy hour.

Tuesday night marked the inaugural Food Truck Court at the Virginia Historical Society. Tons of people came out to dine on some of Richmond’s finest in food truck cuisine. In fact, so many people came out there was some Twitter chatter about people not getting any food due to long lines or carts running out of ingredients. No word on if more trucks will be added, but for now plan to get there early to guarantee a full belly. If you missed Tuesday night’s kick off, fear not! The Food Truck Court will be at the VHS from 6pm to 9pm on the following dates:

  • Friday, April 6th, 2012
  • Tuesday, April 10th, 2012
  • Friday, April 13th, 2012

Check here for the full truck line up.

The weather! It’s SO nice! And because it’s so nice, everyone wants ice cream. Well good news, Sweet 95, the Giavos family ice cream and dessert joint, is now open Thursday through Sunday until May 1st, when it will be open seven days a week for the remainder of summer. Sweet 95 is located next to Kitchen 64 at 336 North Boulevard.

The Roosevelt has a new menu to line up with the changing seasons. Chef Lee Gregory is up to more goodness, people. If you haven’t had the pleasure of dining there yet, get it on your calendar and be sure to make a reservation! The Roosevelt is located at 623 North 25th Street in Church Hill.

For you home-based foodies, the Mayor’s Food Policy Task Force has recommended that the city allow residents to raise chickens in their backyards. While not official city law yet, it is a step in the right direction for you would-be chicken owners!

Happy Hour alert! Blue Goat is now extending its happy hour Monday through Wednesday, from 4:30pm – 8pm. Deals include $1.50 off of beers, $5 highballs, and $5 glasses of featured wines.
