Black Sheep wins national praise, Bliss takes over Bank, S@mple downloads new happy hour menu

RVA’s dining scene continues to shake things up with old mainstays closing and new menus sprouting up.

Last week, Black Sheep was featured on Adam Richman’s Best Sandwich in America, which I hope all of you watched or at least DVR-ed. Their two-foot CSS Virginia sandwich was up against a Baltimore crab cake sandwich and DC’s W Hotel club sandwich. The CSS Virginia CRUSHED the competition. Now Black Sheep will move on to the championship round against other regional winners and two wild cards. We’ll keep you posted on the air date for the next showdown. In the meantime, visit Black Sheep at 901 West Marshall Street in Jackson Ward and try to the CSS Virginia yourself!

According to Richmond Bizsense, A Moveable Feast is closing after 27 years in the catering business. Owner Linda Marcuse says she’s seen increased competition and decreased need for catering in the last four years. She also lost a lot of lunchtime catering customers to budget cuts from downtown businesses. Developer Tom Papa will be looking for a new tenant after some renovations to the space. A Moveable Feast was located at 1318 East Cary Street.
