2009: January – March
Aught-nine has been good to RVANews. This week we’ll be highlighting some of our favorite pieces that have run on the site throughout the year, broken up quarterly, forcing us to really get down to business and pick the best of the best. Enjoy…

We’ll call January “The Month of Susan Howson Getting People To Debate About Relationships,” as seen in this installment of (the now defunct) Robot Hearts and her review of Revolutionary Road.
Oh, and there was also that thing about the VCU Police Chief being arrested on sex charges. Susan didn’t have anything to do with that. We think.
Moving on to February, this short month turned out to be a jackpot of content, bringing us the first mention of the smoking ban, the opening of Movieland, coverage and commentary on RVAJazz Fest, and the introductory episode of Bryan Hooten’s awesome, four-part series, Framing the Void.
Our most-commented-on story ever (at least at press time) also ran in February: Raising Richmond‘s discussion on the hot topic of co-sleeping. Stop by, have a read, and comment if you haven’t already. Believe it or not, we were still getting comments five months after the fact.
March brought with it our St. Patrick’s Day Guide, including this amazing recipe for Irish Stew (brought to us by Brandon Fox who is now do doing great things over at Richmond Magazine). We also had some great sports coverage, including Scott’s CAA basketball tournament bracket (See? The semi-silent, co-publisher does some stuff!) and coverage of the game that sealed VCU’s spot in the NCAA tournament.
There was also much discussion/uproar/battling about Toad’s Place shutting down and circumcision.
Tune in tomorrow for April through June!
