Yoga program in Ginter Park expands offerings

OmMama, which teaches a variety of yoga classes at the Ginter Park Recreation Center, has expanded its programming to include childbirth preparation classes and workshops, support groups for new mothers, infant, toddler, and tyke yoga programs, and a walk/run training team for pregnant and postpartum women.

OmMama, which used to be affiliated with Yoga Source in Carytown, moved its programs to Ginter Park last summer to focus its services on women and families in their childbearing years. The expanded fall schedule includes:

  • Itsy Bitsy Yoga® for Infants, Tots, and Tykes – delightful, fun-filled yoga programs that facilitate children’s development and parent/child bonding while boosting new parents’ self confidence. New sessions start the weeks of October 20 and December 1.
  • Navigating the Fourth Trimester – a six week series for moms and babies up to 14 weeks at the start of the group, facilitated by Erin Butterworth, MSW. New session starts October 28th.
  • New Mom Connection – an informal, drop-in peer support group for moms and babies up to one year, facilitated by Karla Helbert, LPC. On-going.
  • Conscious Birthing: A Workshop for Couples – highly acclaimed workshop facilitates teamwork, communication, and bonding in preparation for childbirth. Next sessions offered on November 2nd, December 7th.
  • Expecting the Best: Informed Childbirth Classes – Designed with input from healthcare professionals, birth attendants, and consumers, this six week series is a unique, highly participatory, evidence-based childbirth education program for women and their partners anticipating a low-intervention birth. Starts Monday, November 3rd.
  • Healthy Mamas – a prenatal/postpartum walk/run training team that will participate in the nTelos 8k on November 15. A joint venture of TRIgirl Training (www.TRIgirltraining.com) and OmMama LLC.
