The XTERRA championship has been held in Richmond since 1999, but this year Richmond is not scheduled on the tour. While there is still a chance the event might take place, the operators want the city to pay a $25,000 fee to help cover their expenses. Sponsorships took care of these fees in the past. According to the RTD, Richmond is the only city out of eight that has yet to agree to the fee, despite the event generating an estimated $400,000 for local businesses last year. [via]
