The RTD asks, Is Richmond spending enough on road repair?:

During his presentation last month of the nearly $1.4 billion proposed spending plan for the coming year, Jones said the city will spend $5 million and will receive an additional $5 million from the state to pave 175 “lane miles,” which is a mile of road one lane wide. Over five years, the city plans to pave 465 lane miles for $25 million. The city will also spend $650,000 in the coming year, which, added to $650,000 in state money, will allow 4.3 miles of sidewalks to get fixed, Jones said.

Through 2014, the city is on pace to have repaved more than 34 percent of Richmond’s streets, Public Works says.
