John Murden at Church Hill People’s News provided us with several photos of the vacant house at 3221 North Avenue in Highland Park that burned earlier this week. Two firefighters were sent to the hospital with minor injuries after battling the fire. From the Times-Dispatch:

The firefighters were taken to Retreat Hospital, one for heat exhaustion and the other for a knee injury, Richmond fire Lt. Michael Oprandy said. Neither firefighter’s injuries were considered serious, he said.

The fire was reported about 2 a.m. in what is believed to be a vacant house in the 3200 block of North Avenue, near the Gladstone Avenue intersection.

The first crews on scene found heavy flames coming from the second floor of the two-story, single-family home. By the time the fire was brought under control about 90 minutes later, the house had sustained extensive damage.
