Southern Culture Gone Noir: Storytelling + Film

Fri Mar 29 6:00 pm
Watch and listen as popular Richmond storytellers weave their pattern of words to the silent running of Jim Jarmusch’s seedy, avant noir, cult film, Down By Law, starring Tom Waits, John Lurie, and Roberto Begnini. The storytellers’ tales from the south—of tussels with authority, legitimacy, legality, and downright tomfoolery—are set to pace with the moving images of three mismatched miscreants who bust out of jail and create havoc while roaming tired and hungry in the Louisiana Bayou. 107 minutes. 1986. Black and white. Rated R. Film is shown without sound.

Feel free to bring your own story to possibly share after the break. Food and beverages will be available for purchase during the event.
