Pellegrino

Rogers currently works out of Maryland and has taught at the Maryland Institute – College of Art, and Salisbury University, Maryland.

Pellegrino is Italian for pilgrim; inspired by Invisible Cities, a book by Italo Calvino in which a fictitious Marco Polo describes city after far-flung city encountered during his travels through the eastern world. His descriptions turn out to be little more than riffs on his hometown, Venice.

Another story from Calvino, The Distance to the Moon, details a time long past when the moon flew so close to the Earth that one could prop up a ladder and climb to its surface. It was a luminous, domineering presence, and a powerful object of desire.

The gallery opens with a reception on Friday, September 12, from 6pm to 10pm, on display for the month of September.

Light refreshments will be served. This event is free and open to the public.

Enteros is located at 314 Exchange Alley, Petersburg VA (behind the Siege Museum)
