WHAT DOES YOUR START-UP BUSINESS DO?

Shelfie–The Bathtub Tray for Safer Play–is a first of its kind bath time accessory for young children. It creates play space on the tub ledge and contains the water. Wet bathroom floors are a universal problem for parents of young children. Shelfie can help to make bath time more fun for little ones, as well as help to keep bathroom floors drier and safer.

HOW DID YOUR VENTURE START?

As a mom to then one and two-year-old girls, bath time was a losing battle to keep the water IN the tub. One night, my one-year-old slipped and fell on a wet bathroom floor and got a nasty bump on her head. I was determined to find a tool to help me keep the water in the tub as they played with all of their toys on the ledge. I couldn’t find anything, so I invented something.

HOW WILL YOU USE THE $10,000 CASH PRIZE TO HELP YOUR START-UP?

I’d use the prize money for marketing to drive sales. We currently have our first run of inventory sitting in our garage. We have an ecommerce website and have had some early sales. The prize money would be used to help us prepare to exhibit at trade shows such as the ABC Expo, but also to gain exposure through other channels that reach our target audience: parents of toddlers and young children!
