Ward 4 voters: Scott Flaherty seeks to run for the Ward 4 City Council seat in addition to incumbent Brian Moore. Scott needs 125 signatures on a petition to get on the ballot for the election. Deadline is June 10 for the signatures. You can sign the petition at 13 W. Old St. (the Pottery Shop), where you can also pick up a signature page to take to an upcoming function, neighborhood meeting, etc. for Ward 4 registered voters to sign.

A brief bio on Scott:
• Life-long resident of the tri-city area, currently residing on historic High St., in Petersburg.
• Officer with the Petersburg Bureau of Police since 1979; received numerous awards, and achieved the rank of Lieutenant in Special Operations.
• Alumnus of Thomas Dale HS, The Virginia Military Institute, the College of Richard Bland and The Crater Criminal Justice Academy.
• 30-year involvement with the citizens of Petersburg.
• Strong desire to prioritize and focus city efforts on public safety and our children’s education.
• “Think outside the box” mentality coupled with a “there is no box” vision.

Scott takes pride in having been a part of the rebirth in the downtown area. He and his wife re-located to High St. in order to take an even more active role in the re-development and re-focused activities in the City. He sees this as an opportunity to give back to a city where he has spent his entire adult life encouraging and promoting change, growth & opportunity.
