Richmond Hostel update
The Richmond Hostel is set to open late summer 2015.
If you have walked by the former Otis Elevators building at 7 N. 2nd Street, you have noticed more activity in recent weeks. Purchased by Hostelling International USA in 2011, the Richmond Hostel is on target to open in last summer 2015 before the UCI Road World Championships bike race arrives in Richmond. A construction groundbreaking ceremony took place in September 2014.
When complete, the Richmond Hostel will have around 50 beds costing $30 a night. The hostel will also include a kitchen, a laundry room, common area, and a fenced-in patio space.
Katie Zacherle, Hostelling International’s director of development, recently spoke with Richmond BizSense and stated that the Richmond Hostel is expecting approximately 10,000 people annually.
