Richmond has the highest residential rental vacancy rate in the country

A wire post about vacancy rates in different cities currently making the rounds ([1] [2]) calls Richmond one of the country’s “Top 15 Emptiest Cities” and says that “Richmond, Va.’s rental vacancy rate of 23.7% is the worst in America” higher even than Detroit’s 19.9% or Las Vegas’ 16% residential rental vacancy rates.
