The monthly sector report issued by the Richmond Police Department’s 4th Precinct outlines a series of arrests made in the month of May. Officers conducted 189 interviews with suspicious individuals; made 90 arrests; issued 210 traffic summons and handled 2005 calls for service in Sector 412. Some highlights include:

  • Officers McQueen and Taylor of the Midnight Shift were checking the area of a Henderson Middle School when they spotted persons trespassing, in a vehicle on the lot. An investigation culminated in the arrest of the driver for possession of marijuana with intent to distribute and related charges.
  • Alert neighbors spotted a subject acting suspiciously in the 1700 block of Westbrook Avenue. They spotted Officer Robert Jamison, off-duty, in his take home car, driving by and flagged him down. He was able to summon other officers by radio and arrest a subject for burglary.
  • On May 17th, Lt. Martin Harrison and Officer Russell Pierce arrested 4 individuals in the course of a prostitution operation in the Chamberlayne Avenue corridor.
  • On May 24th, Officers Jamison and Colburn, working with officers from another precinct, conducted a covert operation in Bryan Park netting 3 arrests on morals charges.

    At the end of May 2008, motor vehicle thefts were down 31% for the year. Robberies were down 11%. Residential burglaries were unfortunately up from 30 in 2007 to 56 in 2008 for an increase of 87%. Burglaries to sheds and outbuildings were up from 5 to 6 for the period. Thefts from motor vehicles were up 54%. PLEASE don’t leave change, toll money, laptop computers, IPods, cell phones, digital cameras, pocketbooks or other items unsecured in your vehicle. Put things in your trunk or take them with you. Use your head and DON’T BE A VICTIM. Call to report suspicious persons in your neighborhood.
