1) City Council to hear/discuss 2008-09 school budget on April 22

On Tuesday, April 22, at 7 p.m., at Union Train Station (103 River St.), Petersburg City Council will hear and discuss the proposed Petersburg City Public Schools 2008-2009 budget. The administration of Petersburg City Public Schools urges all employees and concerned parents to be present, to show your support for the financial plan that we are presenting to the city.

2) Public hearing on April 24 re: Section J of the schools’ policy manual

A public hearing will be held on Thursday, April 24, 2008 from 6-7 PM at the Petersburg School Board office, 225 South Boulevard East. The hearing will be in regards to Section J of the Petersburg City Public Schools Policy Manual. Section J includes, but is not limited to, school attendance areas, school choice, transfers, compulsory attendance, school admission, truancy, student rights and responsibilities, student conduct, student dress, student discipline, detention, student wellness,
scholarships and records.

3) Appreciation Night, PHS Varsity Basketball Team, April 28

The Petersburg City Public Schools invites the public to an Appreciation Night for the members of the Petersburg High School Boys Varsity Basketball Team, who played hard and achieved much this year. The athletes reached the Virginia High School League Group AAA semifinal game, played at the Seigel Center in Richmond.

The Appreciation Night will be Monday, April 28 at 7 p.m., in the Petersburg High School (PHS) cafeteria. Dinner will be served and the guest speaker will be Anthony Grant, head coach of the basketball team at Virginia Commonwealth University. Tickets are $15 and must be purchased by Wednesday, April 23.
