Planning Commission to consider rezoning properties on E. Main

Properties include 2301, 2323, 2325, 2327 2329, and 2331 East Main Street.

One of the items on the Richmond City’s Planning Commission’s agenda next Monday agenda includes one ordinance which pertains to the East End.

From the Planning Commission’s Agenda:

ORD. 2014-139 – To rezone the properties known as 2301, 2323, 2325, 2327 2329, and 2331 East Main Street from the M-1 Light Industrial District to the B-5 Central Business District.

Currently, the properties are classified M-1 Light Industrial, which can include art galleries, auto service centers, banks and similar financial services, places of worship, dry cleaning and laundering establishments, funeral homes, grocery stores, hotels, libraries, museums and parks, among many, many others.

the rezoning to B-5 Central Business would include many of the same types of businesses and organizations, but with different regulations. According to the individual seeking the rezoning change, B-5 provides the most “flexibility.”

You can read the differences between to the two types of zones in great detail in the Richmond City Zoning Ordinance Manual.

The Richmond City Planning Commission will be meeting Monday, July 7 a 1:30 PM on the 5th Floor Conference Room of City Hall.
