The Petersburg Festival Chorus presents their annual Christmas concert on Saturday, December 13, 2008 at 7:30 p.m. The concert will be held at Trinity United Methodist Church, 215 S. Sycamore St., Petersburg. Admission is $10 and tickets may be purchased at the door or in advance at Walnut Hill Pharmacy, 1950 S. Sycamore St.

The performance, directed by Sandra Thomas, will include selections from “Sing for Joy” by G.F. Handel, “Cantate Deo” arranged by Becki Slagle Mayo, “Fantasia on Psalm 150” by Linda Spevacek, as well as other classical pieces. The Chorus will also sing Handel’s “Hallelujah Chorus” along with other familiar Christmas music. Laura Candler White will accompany the Chorus on the piano.

The Petersburg Festival Chorus is in its 19th season performing for various audiences around the Tri-City area. They are a diversified group of singers that include members ranging from high school and college students to senior citizens. They are also the resident chorus of Richard Bland College, and students attending this school can earn credit towards their degree by performing with the Chorus.
