NOVA aquatics teams sweep senior championship

It’s the center’s eighth straight win at the state championships held in Christiansburg, Virginia.

Swimming teams from NOVA of Virginia Aquatics won their eighth straight Virginia Short Course Senior Championship earlier this month in Christiansburg, the center announced.

The West End-based teams made up of high school seniors from around the Richmond area swept the women’s, men’s and combined team titles at the 2014-2015 Virginia Swimming Short Course Senior Championship, held March 5th-8th in Christiansburg, Virginia. The win represented NOVA’s eighth straight combined team title.

Battling snow and ice from a week-ending storm, NOVA‘s men dominated, capturing fifteen of the nineteen events contested, winning state championships in eleven of the fourteen individual events and taking top honors in four of the five relays.

On the women’s side, a mix of rookie and veteran swimmers displayed pluck and resilience as they overcame the heavily favored Poseidon women’s team, the defending Virginia Swimming champions. NOVA’s combined team total of 2111.5 points more than doubled the score of the second place team.
