Mr. Smedley unveiling and community picnic next Wednesday

The Union Hill Civic Association is hosting.

The Union Hill Civic Association is hosting a free community potluck picnic on June 25, from 7:00 to 9:00 PM in Jefferson Park. This celebration will also include the official unveiling of the Mr. Smedley statue in his new home.

The Richmond Public Art Commission will unveil the statue at 7:30 that evening. According to Richmond.com, Jack Wit, the artist behind the Mr. Smedley statue, is expected to attend.

Richmond-based band The Blue and the Gray will provide music for the event, and Alamo BBQ will be providing food.

In keeping with the community potluck theme, attendees are asked to bring a side dish or a dessert.
