Mimi’s Cafe in West Broad Village has served its last meal

The French-inspired chain shuttered Monday morning, according to tips we received.

Mimi’s Cafe, the French-inspired café located in Short Pump’s West Broad Village, closed abruptly Monday morning, according to tips we received today.

The chain restaurant’s West End location opened in mid-2009, when the mixed use development was still in its infancy–and still very much under development.

Increasing competition from new-to-Richmond restaurants and locals alike have put the pinch on Short Pump restaurants in the past few years. Just a few months ago, well-known chain Chili’s closed its location at Short Pump Town Center, less than a mile west.

When reached by phone, a manager at the Short Pump Mimi’s said she wasn’t authorized to speak about the closure to media and directed us to corporate for comment; a representative from which did not immediately return our call.

We’ll update this story as we learn more.
