The July issue of the Bellevue Times newsletter — available from various shops on MacArthur and Bellevue avenues — includes details on the proposed roundabout at the intersection of Hermitage Road and Laburnum Avenue. (The details, provided by Thomas Flynn, city transportation engineer, apparently went to press before Councilmember Chris Hilbert put the brakes on the project until after a September City Council hearing.)
Flynn reports that the project is possible due to a $300,000 federal safety grant. The intersection experiences numerous multi-car angle and head-on collisions. There have been two fatalities at the intersection in the past year.
Flynn also provides a detailed overview of the changes that will be made to the intersection.
