Henrico County Public Schools seeking school bus drivers at job fair Friday

The job fair takes place today from 10:00 AM – 2:00 PM at the Glen Allen Library.

Henrico Schools is hiring bus drivers. If you’re a good candidate but lack experience, don’t worry: HCPS may pay you while you learn.

Members of the HCPS Human Resources and Pupil Transportation departments will be at Henrico County Public Library’s Glen Allen branch Feb. 12 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. HCPS representatives will conduct preliminary interviews with interested bus driver candidates. Applicants are encouraged to apply online in advance at henricoschools.us/careers.

“Bus drivers are valued members of the education staff, and make a positive impact on the lives of our children,” said Josh Davis, the school division’s pupil transportation director. “We are recruiting to fill numerous contracted positions with routes all over the county. These positions come with full Henrico County benefits such as health care; sick leave; and a retirement plan with the Virginia Retirement System. We are also recruiting for substitute driver positions, which offer an hourly wage.”

Henrico Schools welcomes all candidates with good driving records and clean criminal background checks. All candidates will receive pay during a training program, which provides a Virginia commercial driver’s license and all credentials needed to transport Henrico County students on a school bus.

Candidates must be at least 21 years old; have a high school diploma or equivalent; have a valid Virginia driver’s license; pass a physical and drug test; and have no felony convictions.
