From a Halloween Safety Tips flyer:

FOR PARENTS…
1. Make sure your child is old enough and responsible enough to go out without your supervision.
2. Explain to children the difference between tricks and vandalism, i.e. throwing eggs.
3. Explain to your child that harming animals is NOT tolerated and punishable by law.
4. While driving, be mindful of children who may be crossing roadways.

FOR KIDS…
1. Go out during daylight hours.
2. Do not eat treats before they are examined by an adult.
3. NEVER go into the home or get into the car of a stranger.

FOR HOMEOWNERS…
1. Make sure your yard is clear of things that can cause someone to trip.
2. Put your pets up to protect them.
3. Battery-powered candles are preferred to real flames.
4. Considering giving healthy food alternatives or non-food treats, i.e. pencils, stickers or erasers.
