Tattoo artist, Gene Coffey, will be exhibiting his works on canvas at Ghostprint Gallery beginning in July. The exhibition, titled “Ghost” will feature oil on canvas paintings and remain on view until August 29, 2014. Coffey is a resident tattoo artist at Tattoo Culture in Brooklyn, New York who works in “a non-traditional, semi-abstract style.”
From Ghostprint Gallery:
“In the “Ghost” series, figures appear partly obscured by vertical lines of paint, bringing to mind the haunting after-images of a dream. The faces portrayed were found in memorial photographs on grave stones in Italy…According to Coffey, his inspiration ranges from graffiti and street art to the Renaissance masters, works he encountered during his many international travels.”
Remember, due to the July 4 holiday, First Fridays has been moved to July 11.
Ghostprint Gallery is located at 220 West Broad Street, Richmond, VA 23220.
