Chesterfield Master Gardeners Present Horticultural Horizons Symposium April 21

CHESTERFIELD COUNTY, VA – Chesterfield County Master Gardeners will present the third biennial Horticultural Horizons Symposium, Conserving the Commonwealth: Keeping Virginia Green, Tuesday, April 21, 8 a.m.-3:30 p.m., at Lewis Ginter Botanical Garden. Featured speakers will be Dave Close, master gardener coordinator at Virginia Tech; Dr. Annette Meredith, director for scientific outreach at Conservation International; Chris Burkett, wildlife action plan coordinator for the Virginia Department of Game and Inland Fisheries; Margo Dawley, Global ReLeaf program director for American Forests; and Dr. Holly Scoggins, associate professor and garden director at Virginia Tech. Topics to be discussed include garden pollinators, how local gardeners can help Virginia’s wildlife, tree planting, and native Virginia plants that help the environment. The symposium is limited to the first 200 registrants. The registration fee of $45 includes a box lunch and admission to Lewis Ginter Botanical Garden on the day of the event.
