The Maggie L. Walker National Historic Site will be offering special programming on Saturday, July 12, and Tuesday, July 15 to celebrate the 150th birthday of Maggie L. Walker. All activities are free unless otherwise noted.

All events on July 12 will take place at the Maggie L. Walker National Historic Site, 600 N. 2nd Street

“Maggie Walker’s Richmond” Bus Tour
- a two-hour ranger-led tour exploring sites in Richmond related to Maggie Walker’s life and work

Girl Scout Poster Contest
- View artwork produced by local Girl Scouts illustrating four elements of leadership

“Common Good Fair”
- to connect visitors with local community engagement groups that are working to make a difference in the Richmond area

“We Cannot Stand Alone: The Life and Legecy of Maggie Lena Walker”
- Free
- Third Street Bethel AME Church, 614 N. 3rd Street
- 6:00 PM
- a celebration that will focus on the three pillars of Maggie Walker’s work: education, entrepreneurialism, and civic engagement
- Park rangers and volunteers will read the words and stories of the people who lived during her time
- Remarks will also be made by Delegate Jennifer McClellan, Virginia General Assembly; Ida McPhereson, Director of the Virginia Department of Small Business and Supplier Diversity; and Viola Baskerville, CEO, Girl Scouts of the Commonwealth of Virginia
- Procession from the church to the steps of Maggie Walker’s home, where guests will lay 150 flowers
