Cabela’s previews Short Pump store ahead of April 6th opening

The 82,000-square-foot store features a replica mountain, aquarium, archery range, café, and more.

Cabela’s previewed its new 82,000-square-foot store in Short Pump yesterday ahead of its grand opening Wednesday, April 6th.

The store will open with a unique ribbon-cutting ceremony followed by a weekend-long celebration highlighted by special appearances, family events, giveaways and more. The ribbon-cutting ceremony, hosted by Cabela’s executives, will begin at 9:45 a.m. and conclude with the grand-opening ribbon being cut by an arrow shot from a bow by a local Cabela’s employee.

Upon opening, the store will become Cabela’s second Virginia location, joining the Bristol store opened in 2015. It will be the company’s 80th location across North America.

More than 150 jobs will be created with the store’s opening. The Short Pump location features a mountain replica and aquarium, vintage outdoor photos and memorabilia, wildlife displays with museum-quality animal mounts, interactive and educational kiosks, an indoor archery range and archery tech room, and a café serving wild game dishes.
