Near West End’s St. Joseph’s Villa was just awarded at $128,260 Community Development Block Grant from Henrico County to renovate the villia’s gym, The Times Dispatch reports. St. Joseph’s Villa is a non-profit that helps families who are struggling with homelessness, mental or physical disabilities and other needs. A worthy cause for sure….but I want to know when Mary Munford is going to get a gymnasium. The 3 million dollar gym is part of the 2008-2012 capital improvement plan, but for now, there is no indoor area for the children to excersise when it is rainy or too cold to go outside. In fact, the gym was approved last year, just not funded. I guess getting the approval means zilch without the money to back it up.
In the meantime, some parents are thinking of some creative ways to help pay for a gym, but 3 million, is more than they can swing. More on this later.
