PHOTOS: Happy birthday, Pikachu

Our beloved photographer, Heaton Johnson, loves Pokémon. Like LOVES Pokémon. When he brought up the idea of celebrating its 20th birthday by finding people with fan art tattoos, we said “Heaton, you are our Beloved Photographer, but we do not believe you will find enough to turn into a full photoessay. But if you can, we would love to see it.” Guess what, everyone!
Black Rabbit Tattoo, run by Kimberly Wall, hosted a Pokémon 20th Anniversary Flash Day on February 26th, during which customers were tattooed with their choice of flash art. It cost $100, no reservations were made, and Wall brought in Virginia Beach-based Tony Riccio to help handle the load. Find more of Tony at Ancient Art Tattoo.
