The 26th Annual Carytown Watermelon Festival is this Sunday, August 9th! Here’s some basic info to help you make the most of the day…
Hours & cost
- The Watermelon Festival runs from 10am to 6pm.
- There is no cost to get in, but food and other items do cost money, so bring cash. ATMs are located around Carytown.
Parking
- Parking is available in various parking decks located along side streets off of Cary. There is additional parking at UR Stadium on McCloy. You can also park on neighborhood streets in the Museum District as well as in Carytown South (Parkwood, Grayland, etc.)
Remember:
- Local musicians and bands will be playing throughout the day. Get a PDF of the Watermelon Festival’s map and schedule here.
- Watermelon will be for sale up and down Cary Street throughout the day. Check the Watermelon Festival’s map for specific spots. Proceeds from watermelon sales will benefit the Shriner’s Children’s Hospital.
- This year the Carytown merchants are battling over who’s got the best window display. Be sure to cast your vote here.
- The high temperature for Sunday is 100 degrees, so please dress accordingly and drink plenty of water.
