New micro grant program will boost Arts and Cultural District

Have an idea to make the Arts and Cultural District better? Here’s how you can earn money to make it happen.

CultureWorks, a nonprofit dedicated to fostering arts and culture in the region, has partnered with the City to create the Richmond Arts and Cultural District Micro Grant program, which will award individuals and businesses grants of up to $2,500 to enrich the city’s arts district.

The program comprises two categories of available grants:

  • Project support grants — gives up to $1,000 to help fund special events, installations, or activities within the District.
  • Capital improvement grants — gives up to $2,500 for projects that increase the ability to host arts and cultural-related activities for the public.

Applications to the new program will be accepted quarterly. Deadline for the first quarterly interval is October 1st at 5:00 PM. Applications will be judged on merit, with no limit to the number of grants that will be awarded. Applicants are not required to be a nonprofit, but they must operate within the Arts and Cultural District.

Go forth and apply!
