Library mural painstakingly restored at Thomas Jefferson High School
The circa-1940 mural was brought back to its former glory by a local artist last week.

Inside the library at Thomas Jefferson High School in the Museum District is a mural painted by Virginian artist Julien Binford, commissioned in 1940 by Mr. & Mrs. Milton Marcuse to honor their nephew, who met an untimely death.
The Tee Jay Viking Fund, private individuals and the TJHS Class of 1965 underwrote the restoration of the mural, which was done by noted local artist Emily Herr, who specializes in this type of work.
The work took about a week to complete and wrapped up last week.
