May 16th through June 7th at the Glave Kocen Gallery.

May 16th through June 7th at the Glave Kocen Gallery (1620 West Main Street) will feature art by well known RVA artist Ed Trask, his 10 year old daughter Eleanor, and family friend and kinetic work by Susann Whittier.

The Opening Reception will be held on May 16th at 6:00 PM and a Gallery Talk will be held on June 6th featuring all three artists.

Ed shares his art with is daughter in the most loving way!

While many parents and children share the love of storytelling before bed or on a long road trip, Ed & Eleanor have taken the art of spinning yarns one step further with an art exhibit inspired by one of their favorite made up characters, “Josephine “ the Blue Bird. Ed came up with Josephine first but it didn’t take long for Eleanor (now ten years old) to add her own plot twists to Josephine’s adventures and her never ending search for knowledge. The exhibit will feature Paintings by Ed with some embellishments from Eleanor, Sculpture by Eleanor and a kinetic and complimentary piece by long time friend of the family, Susann Whittier.

The paintings take on much more abstraction as some mimic a bird’s eye view of the ground below. The Abstraction is also revealing a deeper layer of Ed’s love for Street Art as the lines, bold color and swooping curves are all reminiscent of tagging. Eleanor will display her bird sculptures and may even build a giant nest for them.

With Ed travelling all over the world honoring commitments for his career, he is thrilled to be sharing the spotlight with his daughter but more importantly the time together.
