Hometown ‘Idol’ Elliott Yamin gets back to Richmond roots with sold out show

Yamin returned to town to perform at The Tin Pan Friday evening.

Elliott Yamin, one of the most well known local singers to compete on American Idol, has been getting back to his roots lately. Yamin, who finished third during the fifth season of Idol, made a return to Richmond Friday evening at The Tin Pan.

With his third album, “Let’s Get to What’s Real,” his first release from label Purpose Music Group/eOne, Yamin is getting back to “making real music with real musician and real instruments,” he says. This new studio album is somewhat musically similar to his first album, but with the creative approach this time of producing “music about real issues.”

Friday evening’s performance, which took place near his alma mater of Freeman High School, was sold out.
