Confederate Memorial Chapel to be transformed during InLight 2015
“The performance will put a twist on one of Richmond’s biggest public relation problems.”
This year’s InLight festival, held on the VMFA grounds on Nov. 13 and 14, has plenty of surprises in store.
Perhaps the most electrifying reveal will be the wholesale transformation of the Confederate Memorial Chapel. The contentious building, which backs onto Grove Avenue, has been a magnet for people devoted to waving the Confederate flag.
But VMFA took control of the chapel lease in June, and local artists are turning the building into a trippy funhouse full of disorienting light, sound and shadow.
The performance will put a twist on one of Richmond’s biggest public relation problems.
