1. Brian Jones Faculty Recital. Brian Jones, Eight Track Alum, ever-present father of Richmond’s avant-garde music scene and University of Richmond Professor gives a faculty recital featuring the Brian Jones Percussion Ensemble, Jones + Kuhl Duo, and Brian Jones Guitar Quartet that is free and open to the public on Sunday. It will, no doubt, be incredible. I hope he has to wear a suit or something. Sun, Oct 5, 7:30 pm, University of Richmond, Camp Concert Hall. Free to the public.

2. First Friday. You know, art and walking around in the beautiful weather and stuff.

3. Redskins vs. Eagles. This can’t be ignored any longer. The Redskins just might be a good ball team. Watch with a curious and hopeful eye Sunday at 1pm.

4.  The Richmond Concert Band is giving a performance of John Phillip Sousa’s works. Special guest John Philip Sousa IV, great-grandson to the legendary band meister will be there talking smack about how sick his family is. 5. 2008 Second Street Festival. Live music, delicious food, dance, and children’s activities. Jackson Ward, Richmond. 6-9 pm on Friday, noon-10 pm on Saturday, and 1-5 pm on Sunday.
