Weather! A return to mild conditions
Clearing skies and mild temperatures return for the first half of the week.
Clear skies and some calming winds allowed temperatures to dip into the “slightly chilly range” last night. We hit a low of 18 degrees this morning, which was even colder than Saturday night’s low of 21. That’s only the third time this winter we’ve dipped into the teens – we hit lows of 17 and 19 on January 4th and 16th, respectively.
Monday: We rebound from this morning’s brisk low quite nicely, thanks to clear skies across most of the state. Highs will make it back into the upper 40s this afternoon with lots of sun. We’ll see some cloudcover build in later tonight as a weak upper-level disturbance swings through tonight. I don’t think we’ll see much precip with this system, but the chance of a stray shower tonight and early tomorrow morning is there. Temperatures get into the low 30s tonight.
Tuesday: Skies will return to partly cloudy tomorrow as another disturbance passes through the mountains to the west. Again, I don’t think we’ll see any precipitation from this system; widespread clouds will be the biggest – and only – concern with this system. Temperatures will climb into the mid 50s on Tuesday, falling into the upper 30s overnight.
Wednesday: Skies clear again as high pressure builds in from the Mississippi Valley. Temperatures make it into the mid 50s during the afternoon and dip back into the upper 30s overnight.
Our next approaching system will bring a warm front through the area on Thursday – get ready for cloudy skies and what is probably our best chance for rain all week.
