I hope you’ve enjoyed the cooler temperatures and reduced humidity for the last two days, because that’s about to come to a screeching halt. A low pressure system tracking along the Maryland-Pennsylvania border on Wednesday will drag a warm front across the region, bringing the return of the humidity through the day, while the heat will wait until later in the week to make a full recovery. High temperatures will approach 85 tomorrow with some patchy clouds, as dewpoints jump from the 40s and low 50s into the upper 60s. Translation: instead of warm and comfortable, we get warmer and far more sticky.

A cold front approaches the area in the evening, with another area of high pressure trailing behind it. The cold front, combined with the high humidity levels and warm air, will make the atmosphere unstable and favorable for afternoon showers and thunderstorms. The Storm Prediction Center has placed the area on the eastern edge of a region of slight risk for severe weather on Wednesday, with the best chances for thundershowers coming between 4-8pm. Low temperatures Wednesday night only fall into the mid 60s.

Wednesday Night Squirrelcast (vs. New Britain, 7:05pm): The threat of storms tomorrow will be greatest around the time before first pitch, especially if skies are more clear during the morning and early afternoon. Game-time temperature will be in the upper 70s to near 80. Once the threat diminishes, partly cloudy skies will persist; 9th inning temperature in the low 70s.

High pressure returns for Thursday, as the cold front departs the area and mostly clear skies return. Temperatures soar to near 90 with light winds. The threat of rain is gone completely for Thursday, and temperatures Thursday night fall into the mid 60s again.

Thursday Night Squirrelcast (vs. New Britain, 7:05pm): Another great night for baseball and fireworks at The Diamond! First pitch temperature will be in the mid 80s; 9th inning temps will be in the low 70s.

Another system approaching the area this weekend will bring the threat for more rain. I’ll have a complete weekend forecast ready on Friday.
