Weather! Great weekend in store

You’ve survived the pollen and the 90-degree temperatures. You survived the windy Thursday, and the rain and severe weather alerts Thursday night, and you’ve basked in the cool, breezy air of Friday. Your reward: a beautiful weekend with near-average temperatures.

Thursday’s high of 85 means that we had a high temperature above 80 degrees every day from April 1 through April 8, setting a new record for consecutive days of above-80 temperatures before April 15. The previous streak, 7 days, was set in mid-March 1990.

Liked Friday? You’ll like Saturday, too. High pressure is back in control following the passage of the cold front that brought the rain and thunderstorms Thursday evening; clear skies will bring temperatures near 70, though it may still be a bit breezy in areas. Lows Saturday night, especially with clear skies, will be a bit chilly, dipping back near the 40s. The best part: not a chance of rain in sight.

Sunday is looking just as awesome, if not a bit warmer. Highs will run closer to 75 than 70. Another cloud-free day with a light April breeze. Lows will run a couple degrees warmer than Saturday night, likely near 45.

Over the longer term, Monday is looking like a Saturday analog. Temperatures will be right near average for this time of year (68), lows near 45, and partly cloudy skies at the most. Light winds will still stick around, but I think we’re still free of any serious rain threat.

It’s going to be yet another fantastic weekend, Richmond. Make sure you get out and enjoy it!
